We are thrilled to welcome our new interns, Derek Nesbitt, Taylor Hoffman and Elena Mathew, during the Spring 2021 semester. Over the course of the semester, they will be responsible for creating, managing and disseminating 2Leaf Press publicity and social media campaigns.
DEREK NESBITT is graduate student at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and is pursuing a Master of Arts in Communications and Public Relations. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism; Political Science from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. Nesbitt is a co-owner of Envy Elite, a girls’ gym in Detroit, where she is the head coach for Energy, a youth hip hop team. She is an writer and owner of Between the Lines Publishing, LLC, and the author of Bulletproof: “Ride to the Finish Line” Vol. 1 (2017), and Bulletproof: “Fight to the Finish Line” Vol. 2 (2018). She was also a reporter for the student-produced newscast at Michigan State University, Focal Point News.
TAYLOR HOFFMAN is a junior at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. She is studying English and Multimedia Journalism with a minor in Spanish. At Simpson, Hoffman is a Writing Fellow, a Culver Fellow, a CA, and writes for The Simpsonian. She has also been involved in the Speech & Debate program, English Club, and Greek life on campus. In her free time, Hoffman enjoys painting, reading, writing, and geeking out over the editing process (for both written and video content)! Taylor dreams of working in the publishing industry after college and is passionate about amplifying diverse voices.
ELENA MATHEW is a high school senior from Corvallis, Oregon. She was born in Saskatoon, Canada, and moved to the U.S, when she was one-years-old. She loves working with people, and is especially passionate about cultural, racial and diversity issues. Mathew has traveled to many unique places around the world, such as Singapore to France, and hopes to continue her exploration of the world in the years to come. She plans to attend college and major in marketing in fall 2021.
