Each April, CityLit Project presents its signature event: CityLit Festival. The day-long celebration of literature includes concurrent programming throughout our partner’s venue so that there is something literally for everyone. It features award-winning authors, and a bustling literary marketplace consisting of self-published authors, small presses, literary journals, and organizations.
This year, the contributors of The Beiging of America, Being Mixed Race in the 21st Century were featured in a panel discussion: “What We Are: Speck, Good Hair, Vanilla Bean, Cinnamon & Pearl: When Words Make You Real,” which took on “race matters” from firsthand accounts of mixed-race people in the United States. The panel included, pictured above left to right, Herbert Harris, Chelsea Lemon Fetzer, Naomi Raquel Enright, Jackson Bliss, Frances Frost, and editor Tara Betts, in a reading and frank discussion about mixed race/multi-culture identity.
Kudos and much thanks to our contributors for continuing to spread the word. Be sure to purchase The Beiging of America, a worthy addition to your library. Special thanks to the organizers of CityLit Festival Carla Du Pree and Gregg Wilhelm for the great work they do.
