One of the things people comment on is 2Leaf Press‘ book covers. They are not of the cookie-cutter kind, they are distinct and appropriate to each book. While admittedly, I have had my hand in a couple of covers and oversee the final layout, the cover artwork and some of the design really is attributed to the many artists whose work has graced our covers.
This is a list of some of those great artists and designers. Take time to find out more about them and the great work they do:
Miriam Ahmed, cover design: Broke Baroque
Jeffrey Akers, photo: Last of the Po’Ricans
Gary Baller, (courtesy of Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission), photo: After Houses
Jean-Michel Basquiat, artwork: Broke Baroque
Eugen Berlo, cover art: Birds of the Kiswar Tree
Michael J. Bracey, photos (cover and book): Rivers of Women, The Play
Jaime “Shaggy” Flores (our first cover artist), cover art and design: Hey Yo! Yo Soy!
Frank Frazier, cover art: Brassbones & Rainbows
Kenji C. Liu, cover art: Dream of the Water Children
Teofilo Olivieri, cover art and illustrations, Puerto Rican Folktales / Cuentos folclóricos puertorriqueños
Spencer Sauter, cover art: Incessant Beauty
Allison Strauss, cover art: The Rosary of Latitudes
Holly Turner, cover art and design: Providencia
Clare Ultimo, cover art and design: Our Nuyorican Thing
Of course, there is the work of Vagabond Beaumont, who has done cover art, photos and/or design for Abiodun Oyewole, J.L. Torres, Dylcia Pagan and Not4Prophet’s covers. Overall, this is an impressive group of people and I hope you’ll agree as you closely scrutinize our covers and learn more about these great artists. Kudos to them all!
