Ever wonder why 2Leaf Press continues moving forward? It’s because of the great team members behind the scenes who are dedicated to 2Leaf Press’ mission and the written word.
Although I work with the authors, editors and translators directly to help cultivate their books, there is a team of editors and translators who take on the task of doing full reads and copy editing the work. First, kudos to Adam Wier, who has been with me since phati’tude Literary Magazine. He is both a superb editor and translator (he was head translator for Jesús Papoleto Meléndez’ Hey Yo! Yo Soy!) and a great team player. He is also a 2Leaf Press author with plans to publish Legends and Other Tales by Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer in the near future. There’s also Carolina Fung Feng, who also worked on Hey Yo! Yo Soy! and is an equally superb copy editor and translator who meticulously goes though every single word in the text. Then there is Kevin Pesántez, my co-editor of Hey Yo! Yo Soy!, who is not only a great editor who quickly grasps the author’s work, but can also, in a snap, translate short copy as well. These folks are awesome! Little known fact? They first came to 2Leaf Press as interns and have remained with us ever since, going on years!
Rounding out this great team is our Program Director, Carmen Pietri Diaz. Besides providing sound legal and business advice, she also helps with fundraising, programming and often the selection of books. Vagabond Beaumont is our secret weapon, who has made a name for himself in recent months by creating many of 2Leaf Press’ book covers (Abiodun Oyewole, J.L. Torres, Dylcia Pagan, Not4Prophet), press photos and our author book videos, which are available for viewing on YouTube.
Then there is of course, IAAS Board Member and 2Leaf Press liaison Stephanie Agosto, who oversees this project, with additional support from board members Andrew P. Jackson (Sekou Molefi Baako), Naydene Brickus and our newly elected board member, Sean Frederick Forbes, with a special shout-out to Yvonne Shelton, who helps us with our tax returns. I would be remiss without mentioning close family members and friends who I am eternally grateful for their help and support.
I thank all of these great people, and especially our 2Leaf Press authors who have given us the opportunity to publish their works because without them, the press wouldn’t be where it is today. We have certainly faced some challenges and rough patches in recent months as most small presses do, but we remain committed to the mission of 2Leaf Press and our authors, doing everything possible to make them and the press shine. Cheers to the team!
