VAGABOND PHOTO MACHETERO, the six-time internationally awarded debut feature film by 2Leaf Press team member, Vagabond Beaumont, will have it’s DIY theatrical release for a limited one-week theatrical run in New York City, beginning Wednesday, June 12th, through Tuesday, June 19th, at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center in New York City’s Loisada (Lower East Side). Written and directed by Vagabond, MACHETERO is his debut feature film.

French journalist Jean Dumont (played by Isaach de Bankolé) interviews Pedro Taino a “Puerto Rican Terrorist” in prison (played by (not4)Prophet). Pedro is a self-described Machetero, (a warrior class of Puerto Rican freedom fighters), who is fighting to free a colonized Puerto Rico from the United States. Jean questions Pedro about his decision to use violence to achieve that freedom. As they speak, a ghetto youth (played by Kelvin Fernandez) who is trapped in a cycle of violence, is encouraged by Pedro and a mentor from his childhood (played by Dylcia Pagán) in Puerto Rico to become the next generation of Machetero. Post 9/11 definitions, ideas and notions of terrorism are explored and challenged in this controversial film that has won awards in South Africa, Wales, England, Thailand, Ireland and New York.
