[trx_title font_size=”32pt”]Reintroducing phati’tude Literary Magazine[/trx_title]

I am pleased to announce or rather, reintroduce phati’tude Literary Magazine (PLM), which is available for sale exclusively at Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble. The magazine published ten issues from 1997 to 2012. If you are interested, you can learn more about the magazine’s history here.

PLM is like an anthology bound by theme, taste, or timing.

As a themed quarterly, when you read an issue of PLM, you not only rediscover literature from a cultural viewpoint, you also get an idea of that moment’s literary pulse. You also get to read works from famous (like Rita Dove) to not so famous (Angelo Nikolopoulos). Curious? Check out the poets, writers and artists who published in PLM here.

Although PLM ceased publication in 2012, it remains an invaluable document and teaching tool comprised of some of the best established and emergent writers at the turn of the century. The ten published issues are as timely as when we first published them, and remain relevant in the public sphere.

PLM brings together writers scattered across states and countries who share the same space.

Literary magazines exist on the periphery of the literary world, and as such, are free to publish work that captures the imagination with text that breaks boundaries. PLM has published writers and ideas from the margins, who often who slip between the mainstream cracks, some who have gone on to become well-known in literary circles, while for others it was the only magazine they ever published in because in that moment, they had something to say. Published quarterly, literature is rarely this instantaneous.

Writers with dreams.

And while many literary magazines are born and bred in colleges, where young writers deserve attention, support, and a glimpse into the world beyond their campus, there was a time when literary journals, as they were once called, was a place where professors and literary type had the first and only first dibs to publish. The premise behind PLM was to exist as a publication independent from institutional support, and to have an open submission call so that all writers of different stripes and backgrounds could participate. The literary world was wide, but there we were, publishing emerging writers alongside established writers, and making our small but necessary contribution to that world. Literary magazines are worth our time for the gifts they offer. Check out PLM, you will not be disappointed.
