2Leaf Press is holding its annual fundraiser during Black History Month. We felt it was fitting since we recently changed our tagline from “A small press with big ideas” to “Black/Brown Owned, Female-Led.” Our biggest source of support has always been you, and we hope that we can count on you once again to help sustain 2Leaf Press. You can donate using PayPal today! Donate $25 or more and receive a free ebook of BLACK LIVES HAVE ALWAYS MATTERED.
It’s no surprise that like most businesses, the book business has grounded to a halt due to the pandemic. In previous recessions, some facets of the book market may have sputtered, but enough commerce always managed to flow through other market segments to make ends meet. Not this time. Bookstores are closed, schools and libraries are shuttered. The total volume of book sales nationwide has shrunk significantly. We don’t know when this will change.
But here’s what we do know: 2Leaf Press will get through it all and survive. Not only that, we will come out stronger and better than before. Our reorganization under our new company, 2Leaf Press Inc. and our new board members, which collided with the onslaught of the pandemic, has been well-thought-out and relies on an online rather than a brick and mortar strategy. The books we plan to publish in the next twelve months will change the landscape of small press publishing, and we are tying our books into multimedia projects, having already had our books featured in the films, The War with Grandpa (2020) starring Robert De Niro, and My Spy (2020) starring Dave Bautista. Our books have been reviewed by Midwest Review, Los Angeles Review of Books, The Boston Globe, The Columbia Review, and Poetry International Online, among others. We established two standout series, NUYORICAN WORLD SERIES, which features Puerto Rican poets and writers, and under the editorship of Sean Frederick Forbes, 2LP EXPLORATIONS IN DIVERSITY, which challenges race, culture, and sociopolitical issues concerning diversity and inclusivity in America. 2Leaf Press is the first Black/Brown Female-Led Press in the United States distributed by the University of Chicago Press. This fact alone encouraged us to change our tagline to reflect this.
As you go through 2Leaf Press’ website, you can see this first-hand: the quality of writers we have published, the forthcoming 2021 fall lineup, and the renewed activity on social media. Having evolved from publishing “just poetry” to narratives, memoirs, and nonfiction works, as we near our tenth anniversary our commitment to multicultural writers and addressing social justice issues remains steadfast. Our small band of volunteers and interns are pushing limits to bring to the public a broad range of writers who are often ignored by mainstream publishers.
Your donation will help us raise enough money to convert our interns and volunteers into paid staff, and expand our marketing tools so we can launch an aggressive publicity campaign to help us promote and sell more books.
Donations are to 2Leaf Press Inc., our parent nonprofit organization. Our company has been rated by Guidestar, and all online donations are payable through PayPal and are tax-deductible. If you would like to mail a check, you can find out more information here. Please encourage your friends and colleagues to donate and remember, every little bit helps.
Thank you in advance for your contribution. Help us continue innovating, creating, and providing great works of stunning diversity that will thrill book readers everywhere. 2Leaf Press is proof of small presses’ vibrancy and of their vital integration in the book reading experience. By helping to sustain 2Leaf Press, there’ll always be a treasure of books just waiting to be discovered and loved and shared by all.
Cheers and many, many thanks for your help and support.
