Karen Ford

KAREN FORD is the author of Thoughts of a Fried Chicken Watermelon Woman (2014), and is a contributor to The Professional Woman Network anthology, The Professional Black Woman (2017). She is a freelancer writer for People’s World, a columnist for the South Side Weekly, and has published in the Chicago Tribune, Screen Magazine and Lutheran Woman Today. She served two terms as Third Vice President of the National Writers Union, UAW 1981, and currently serves as treasurer of the Chicago chapter. Ford is the recipient of several awards for her community and labor-related work, and recently an International Women’s Award by the Women’s Information Network (2011). She received a BA in general studies, and an MS in public service management from DePaul University, and resides in Chicago.
