Herbert Ricks Jr.

HERBERT RICKS JR. is a poet and essayist, and is a winner of the Clark-Atlanta University essay contest with a critique on liberation theology in the works of George Moses Horton. He holds a BA in English/Language Literature from Southern New Hampshire University, and an MA in English/African American Literature from NC A&T University. Ricks is a performance poet who has competed in and won numerous poetry competitions, and served as Artistic Executive Director of Piedmont Spoken & Literary Arts Movement (SLAM), a performance poetry organization. Ricks has facilitated various seminars, workshops and discussions ranging from poetry to cultural studies. He currently works as an Adjunct Instructor of English at Forsyth Technical Community College and NC A&T University, and resides in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
