GIL FAGIANI (1945-2018) was a translator, essayist, short-story writer, and poet. A graduate of Hunter School of Social Work, his work has been translated into French, Greek, Italian, and Spanish. He published six poetry collections, including Logos (2015), Stone Walls (2014), and Chianti in Connecticut (2010), as well as three chapbooks. Fagiani’s poetry has appeared in eighteen anthologies and publications such as The New York Times, Descant, Skidrow Penthouse, Bitter Oleander, Mudfish, Maintenant, The Paterson Literary Review, and The Journal of Italian Translation. A social worker by profession, Fagiani directed a residential treatment program for recovering alcoholics and drug addicts in downtown Brooklyn for twenty-one years. He co-curated the Italian American Writers’ Association’s monthly reading series in Manhattan, and served as associate editor of Feile-Festa: A Literary Arts Journal.
