GEORGE CASSIDY PAYNE is an independent writer and photojournalist who reports on politics, religion, and social justice issues. He has published essays, commentary, blogs, poetry, and photography in a variety of regional and national publications including The Atlantic, Buffalo News, Albany Times Union, Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Rochester Indymedia, The Minority Reporter, Chicago Crusader, Toronto Star, The South China Morning Post, Ovi Magazine, Moria Poetry Review, The Ampersand Literary Review, KRWG.Org, The Fellowship of Reconciliation Blog, and more. Payne received a Master of Theological Studies degree from Emory University (Candler School of Theology) in 2009. In 2010 he received the President’s Volunteer Service Award. He serves as a Case Manager and residential counselor at Willow Domestic Violence Center in Rochester, New York.
