DEDRIA HUMPHRIES BARKER is a member of the Squaw Valley Community of Writers. Her work has appeared in Redbook magazine, The Detroit News, ABSOLUTE VISIONS: An Anthology of Speculative Fiction, Literary Mama, and Sundry: A Journal of the Arts. She has been published by the Society for the Study of Midwestern Literature and the Ohio and Michigan historical societies. A native of Detroit, she earned a MA in English from Wayne State University, moved to the state capital and became a professor of English at Lansing Community College. She is the author of Mother of Orphans,The True and Curious Story of Irish Alice, a Colored Man’s Widow (2020).
