Ayshia E. Stephenson

AYSHIA E. STEPHENSON is a playwright, writing instructor and award-winning poet. She has an MFA in Writing from CalArts, an MA in Sociology, and a  a PhD from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Stephenson uses drama and performance to investigate sexuality, race and gender. Her  play, Venus Hottentot, premiered at Jewel Box Theatre’s Midtown International Theatre Festival in New York City in 2016. She has been published by Boston University Press, Open to Interpretation, A Gathering of the Tribes, TESOL Review, and is forthcoming in Qualitative Inquiry.
