Amelia Simone Herbert
AMELIA SIMONE HERBERT, raised in Rahway, New Jersey, studied history and African American studies at Duke University. She self-published a chapbook of poems and short stories, Contagious Acts of Freedom (2013), illustrated by artist Margaux Joffe. Herbert taught in Newark public schools for eight years, and is currently a PhD candidate in Anthropology and Education at Columbia University, Teachers College.
