Not4Prophet, 2Leaf Press‘ prolific and political poet, celebrated the publication of his first poetry book, Last of the Po’Ricanas y Otros Afro-Artifacts at La Casa Azul Bookstore on 103rd Street off of Lexington Avenue on December 18, 2013.

After being introduced by the owner of La Casa Azul, Aurora Anaya Cerda, Carmen Pietri, 2Leaf Press‘ Program Director, who played an integral role in the procurement and the production of Last of the Po’Ricans, shared with the audience the development of the book and touched on the social and political significance of Not4Prophet’s poetry.

To help jump start the celebration, 2Leaf Press author, Jesús Papoleto Meléndez and the poet Mariposa read poems from Not4Prophet’s book. Poet-scholar Urayoán Noel, who edited the book, and 2Leaf Press Author, Sam Diaz Carrion, whose book Our Nuyorican Thing is forthcoming, were also in attendance to lend their support. And throughout the evening, Not4Prophet performed his poetry with guitarist Arturo Rodriguez of RICANSTRUCTION.

The book’s introduction was written by fellow 2Leaf Press poet and professor, Tony Medina, with graphics created by Vagabond, who also wrote the afterword to the book. Last of the Po’Ricanas y Otros Afro-Artifacts is available on sale at Amazon.com and other outlets.
