Amazing. Phenomenal. These are the words I heard after Not4Prophet’s performance at UCONN Co-op Bookstore at Storrs Center on March 25, 2014. You can read more about Not4Prophet’s performance at The UCONN Daily Campus newspaper.
It just goes to show the importance of supporting emerging poets and writers, and 2Leaf Press hit the ball out the park with Not4Prophet’s book, Last of the Po’Ricans (with graphics by Vagabond), which incidentally, is being taught at UCONN by Dr. Lisa Sánchez González (also a 2leaf Press author) this semester. And special thanks to Dr. Sean Frederick Forbes Director of Creative Writing in the English Department at UCONN (also a 2Leaf Press author and newly appointed IAAS Board Member), for helping to make Not4Prophet’s appearance a major success!
So what happens when you support an activist-performer-poet and publish their book? You get a moving and eye-opening body of work that moves people. And we are particularly proud that Not4Prophet’s book is part of our ongoing series, NUYORICAN WORLD SERIES. Special note: the series was actually developed by Sánchez González and Vagabond Beaumont, so kudos to them both!
Stay tuned for more reports from the front as Not4Prophet travels throughout the continent with rhymes that speak to truths and make people think. Plus, for all of you teachers and professors out there: If you are interested in teaching 2Leaf Press books, please contact us at 2lpteach@2leafpress.org, we’re glad to help make it happen!
