We are pleased to announce the forthcoming publication of Vagabond’s first book, NOTHING TO BE GAINED HERE, to be published under 2Leaf Press’ NUYORICAN WORLD SERIES in November, 2016.

NOTHING TO BE GAINED HERE initially began as a blog for artist, writer, filmmaker, anarchist and idealist Vagabond at #nothingtobegainedhere. It is a virtual space that Vagabond carved out for himself to present his “less than ideal art and ideas for a less than ideal world” that explores socio-political observations. The book of the same name is a collection of poems, prose, essays, sketches, paintings, digital graphics, and scripts that appeared on his blog and has been transformed into a beautiful 8.5” x 11” color hardcover book.

Vagabond is a filmmaker, artist, author and photographer who has been a great asset to our organization, whether he is filming, producing and directing our promotional videos, creating fabulous press photos of our authors or designing great book covers for 2Leaf Press. But first and foremost, Vagabond is a filmmaker and has been in the business for years — he began his career working for Spike Lee and has since worked for a number of distinguished filmmakers and artists.

The book begins with Vagabond’s socio-political awakening in 1977 during New York City’s blackout and then traverses with personal stories about his family, art, and politics interspersed with poems, photos and artwork. This collection is a coffee table book that is part memoir and part historical that is highly visual, a great addition to anyone’s library.

We’ll keep you apprised as we get closer to publication, but be sure to mark it on your calendar, November 2016!
