2LP Interns

2Leaf Press is accepting applications from Interns who are
participating in accredited college internship programs.

Black Woman Intern

2Leaf Press is looking for a few good interns with a high degree of self-motivation, who are able to work independently, have superior communication (both oral and written) and organizational skills, and express an interest and a strong knowledge of literature, publishing and culture. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others is essential. Interns should have some background in areas of interest, such as editing, graphic layout, design and marketing, or have acquired class credits to be considered.

The ideal candidate will do whatever it takes to help us make our books happen. While we try to offer some “glamorous” duties (such as proofreading and editing books, graphic layout and design, and social media marketing), interns will be required to do some less than glamorous tasks such as research, writing press releases and promotional copy, and updating the website. Familiarity with content management systems such as WordPress (to update the website), InDesign and Photoshop (to work on books and publicity materials), and social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter and Hootesuit is an added plus. Knowledge of Microsoft Word is essential. The ability to stick to deadlines is absolutely mandatory. Ideally, we don’t want interns that just take orders and slave away at their specific tasks –- we consider everyone as part of the team — including their input and ideas as well. Interns are required to work a minimum of 10 hours a week toward completing our internship program.

Although we are located in New York City, 2Leaf Press operates on a computer cloud, meaning we communicate and conduct business using our laptops and cell phones. Therefore, we are open to working with interns throughout the U.S. Please note that at this time, we are only accepting applications from candidates enrolled in college with plans to participate in an accredited internship program. Once accepted, we will be happy to fill out whatever applications your institution requires to help make your internship happen.

Potential candidates should familiarize themselves with our organization before applying. Please send a cover letter, resume and writing sample (or art portfolio) to Gabrielle David at gdavid [at] 2leafpress.org. Be sure to tell us why you want to work with us, what you would like to do, your experience, your future goals, and why you love literature. Don’t forget to attach your resume!

Thanks for your interest in 2Leaf Press. We’re extremely grateful and excited at the prospect of having extra hands added to this labor of love, for it’s this kind of support that has allowed the IAAS to operate 2Leaf Press, and continue its work.

We’re a small press with big ideas. Cheers and we look forward to hearing from you!
