2lp-Spring-Announcement-2014

2Leaf Press is pleased to announce its new releases for Spring 2014. The fresh new faces behind our forthcoming books are as diverse as the titles we plan to release in the next ten weeks! In keeping with our mission, besides publishing and promoting an eclectic group of writers who are ignored by the mainstream, 2Leaf Press continues to publish a lot of “firsts” including a fresh take on folktales and travel, a poetry collection that tackles homelessness, a poetic nod to Puerto Rican culture, and two poetry collections: one from a Peruvian and the other from a Spaniard that has been translated from the Spanish to English.

Professor, scholar and folklorist, Lisa Sánchez González publishes her long-awaited book, PUERTO RICAN FOLKTALES/ CUENTOS FOLCLÓRICOS PUERTORRIQUEÑOS, the first offering in nearly 50 years of traditional oral Puerto Rican folktales and legends presented in book form, with translations by Bayrex and illustrations by Teofilo Olivieri, as part of our NUYORICAN WORLD SERIES.

THE ROSARY OF LATITUDES by poet, author and playwright Usha Akella, who investigates her Indian identity with place and travel through poems, prose and photographs in an inspiring travelogue.

AFTER HOUSES, Poetry for the Homeless by Claire Millikin, is a collection of unflinchingly raw poetry that is an extended mediation on homelessness.

In BORICUA PASSPORT, under our NUYORICAN WORLD SERIES, professor and author J.L. Torres screams, shouts, rejoices celebrates, tickles and challenges readers with a poetry that is sprinkled with Spanish/Spanglish about the complex in-betweeness of the Puerto Rican condition.

Award-winning Spanish poet Ana Rossetti offers to an English-speaking audience, INCESSANT BEAUTY, A BILINGUAL ANTHOLOGY (Spanish/English) which consists of poetry from her thirty-plus year career as a poet, writer and innovator. Published under our 2LP TRANSLATIONS series, this refreshing collection is edited and translated by Carmela Ferradáns.

BIRDS ON THE KISWAR TREE by Peruvian Andean poet Odi Gonzales, is an elegant and richly imagined tribute to indigenous and mestizo artists that is being published under our 2LP TRANSLATIONS series. This is his first English edition, translated by Lynn Levin.

Print editions will be immediately available for sale online at Amazon.com and other online outlets. Books distributed through Ingram and 2LP Distribution Direct. eBooks will eventually be available on Kindle, KOBO, iBookstore, Google Play and Nook. Stay tuned for more info for release dates and book parties as we go down the final stretch in getting these incredible books in our readers’ hands. We are 2Leaf Press, a small press with big ideas!
